This week is Women's Equality Week for our Nation. It's great to have a week to have so many focusing their message together in asking that women be paid equally for equal work. Many of us here in Missouri work to make it a daily part of our conversation in order to bring awareness in hopes of things changing.

I'm not really certain why we're met with so much oppression and often hostility when it comes to standing up for our rights as humans. Why is it too much to ask to be respected as a fellow human being and be treated the same as everyone else? But yet year after year, when our faithful Senator Jolie Justus and Representative Judy Morgan (and so many before them) sponsor the bill to ratify our amendment for equal rights, we are ignored. It's not put on the calendar for committee discussion, it's never discussed on any of our Chamber Floors, and our legislatures are continually dominated by white, older men. Those of us in the minority are not represented in correlation to the population. It needs to be a discussion piece.
